THE ISLAND

World famous Santorini is so profoundly beautiful and renowned for its unique geological phenomenon volcano. The pristine beauty of the volcanic landscape and the eternal blue compose an uncommon aura that invites every human soul. The poetic sunrise and sunset views are moving all over the world by passionate travelers who have visited this one-of-a-kind place.

Santorini is a small Greek island, easy to be explored. Cobblestoned narrow streets, picturesque sceneries, Cycladic architecture, and scenic villages synthesize an unparalleled spectacle on the south side of the Aegean Sea.

Five of the most renowned and must-visit areas of Santorini are Fira, its capital, Oia, Imerovigli, Akrotiri, and Megalochori.

Fira is the island's main town and represents its cultural and commercial center. With a powerful historical, traditional, and folklore identity, the region of Fira is imbued with museums, galleries, and cultural events, while the streets are enriched with shops, restaurants, and bars.

Oia is perched at the edge of the cliff and offers impressive views of the Aegean sea and the world-famous Caldera. It's the most photogenic village of Santorini and provides excellent spots ideal to photographically capture the unique landscape with the whitewashed houses and the blue-domed churches. Oia is also known for its astounding sunset view.

Imerovigli is considered as the picturesque "balcony of Santorini". It shows spectacular views of the Aegean Sea, the famous Caldera, and the awe-inspiring volcano. Imerovigli is dressed in a white palette and is harmonized with the Cycladic architecture. Visitors can roam in the cobblestoned paths, enjoy the inspiring views, and visit the various bars and restaurants.

Akrotiri is mainly noted for its archaeological site: the prehistoric remains of the ancient Minoan city, which was destroyed by the volcanic eruption and buried under ash around 1600BC. When you visit Akrotiri, you will feel the nostalgic air of ancient times. The archaeological excavations started in 1967, and they never stopped.

Megalochori is a hidden gem in Santorini. A quiet and traditional village, perfect for a quick escape from the busy zones. It delivers an authentic feeling which encourages you to relax. Megalochori is surrounded by beautiful vineyards. There also lies the winery of Gavalas family, the owners of Theano Cave Suites & Villas. Santorini is renowned for its excellent wine, especially the white Assyrtiko. The hot and dry climate, along with the unique soil composition, make this island ideal for the vine's growth. To taste the finest Assyrtiko, visit the Gavalas family winery in Megalochori, which has been family-run for five generations. During your visit to the winery, you will taste a variety of exceptional quality wines and learn about the history, tradition, and winemaking secrets from the Gavalas' sommelier and enologist.

Of course, there are 16 magnificent wineries on Santorini. Each one produces unique tastes!
